Eros falls in love with Psyche in the myth and he asks for Psyches hand in marriage but he will only visit her at night where she can’t see him.  This translates to the soul uniting with divine love but in order for that to happen the soul must give herself to divine love with true love and trust or else that divine love cannot be.

So why is all this happening?  At the beginning Psyche which is our soul is said to have fallen and the material world we’re living in is her confinement.  This confinement has lasted for eons and she has lost her identity.  The path back to her true self is what the myth is describing.

The myth goes on and as Psyche awakens to who she truly is with the different trials she was put through she gains her place on Mt. Olympus with the immortals.

Just about every religion on the planet preaches that love is the ultimate emotion if not the one and only emotion where the rest of the emotions stem from.  The initiates of the ancient Greek mystery schools learned a lot more than what I just described but where extremely secret and either lost to history or passed on to another mystery school which we might not ever be able to trace.

Now how can this information help you spot your soul mate?  It is the first step and it starts off with knowing yourself and where you are.  This is the beginning of your trip down the rabbit hole.

In looking for your soul mate you will think that it will start off all lovie-dovie and although it can be it might not.

As we see in so many myths it’s the challenges that someone faced that ended up becoming immortal like psyche and Hercules for example.  So we now know who we are and the next lesson is in how we can grow to our ultimate potential.

An intimate relationship is something that helps bring out who we are on the inside.  Bad or good it ends up surfacing.  Your strengths and weaknesses are revealed and the other person can be the one that helps you or not.

A soul mate might start off as a great romance and later feel like a huge challenge.  When we are challenged like we see in our myths we tend to come out better and stronger and that is the purpose of a soul mate.

In addition to that, the ancient Greeks believed in reincarnation.  The Hermetica, Orpheus, Pythagoras, Socrates and Plato for example taught and spoke of reincarnation.   In fact the famous American psychic Edgar Cayce spoke of reincarnation and gave many reading to people about who they were in past lives.  According to what Edgar Cayce described he seems to be right on track with the same belief the ancient Greeks had.

Souls came into the Earth plane and their soul growth occurred over many lives.  Their growth came along with Karma and they couldn’t leave this planet until all debts were paid.  Edgar Cayce went ahead with more information about reincarnation stating that the bible itself spoke of it and that the Gnostic Christians who were kicked out of Asia Minor by the Romans followed closer to the true teachings of Christ but that’s a whole other topic.

Edgar Cayce said that “an eye for an eye” meant that karma was paid for by the soul and not necessarily within the same life period.  A few readings he gave to people even suggested that some people were meant to go through some specific troubles or bad health in order to pay for previous actions and learn lessons in order for them to grow.  Plato said that going through these various lives was a way to purify one’s self and break away from the cycle of Earth, returning to the soul’s true celestial origins.

Through the ancient Greeks and Edgar Cayce we see that a soul mate will make us whole.  We have spent other lives with this soul and they return with us to help us or help each other grow.  We grow together and that doesn’t mean happily ever after.

The other thing is that a soul mate might not be a lover at all.  A soul mate can be a friend, child, parent, relative, etc…  A soul mate might not be one person either but several people in our lives.

Somewhere along the line our idea of a soul mate turned into this perfect relationship but I don’t think it was meant to throw us off.  We got caught up in the results of our soul mate experience and we got caught up in the myth forms of communicating the message.  Once we start interpreting our myths properly we can all become initiates of the Greek Mystery Schools.

Entering the ancient Greek mystery schools meant you would choose the red pill and instantly find yourself down the rabbit hole.

Why would the topic of soul mates take you down the rabbit hole?  Because finding a soul mate means you would have to first find out who you are and where you are.

Your first lesson would be about the myth of Eros and Psyche and that will help you discover the truth about yourself.

Once you realize what you truly are you can move to the second lesson and understand how to spot a soul mate.

The bad news is that your soul mate isn’t exactly what you’ve been told or shown on TV.  The good news is that your soul mate will make you complete and also help you grow as a person.

So this Valentine’s Day even if you’re married or single, attached, divorcing or dating, these examples the Greeks left us with as encrypted as they may be, will help us all.

Step one is to understand the general myth of Eros and Psyche.  Let me explain the myth and what it means as simple as possible.  Psyche represents the human soul and in the myth Psyche was a princess.  This means her parents are royalty and that represents the highest spiritual achievement one can gain.  Psyche will grow up one day and be like her parents.
